Bumpi

About

Built for the moment
when lunch becomes complicated.

Bumpi is a pregnancy food safety app that gives you a clear answer — Safe, Avoid, Limit, or Depends — for anything you're about to eat. No rabbit holes. No conflicting forums. Just clarity.

Ayoub, founder of Bumpi

The origin

I'm Ayoub — a software engineer in Morocco and a soon-to-be dad.

When my partner and I started navigating pregnancy, I was genuinely shocked at how hard it was to get a straight answer about something as ordinary as what to eat for lunch. Every search led somewhere different. Half the answers contradicted each other. The rest were buried under so many disclaimers they were useless.

So I built Bumpi — the app I wish we'd had from day one. It's not backed by a big corporation or venture funding. It's a personal project, built with real care, for real people going through the same thing.

What Bumpi is — and what it isn't.

What it is

  • A fast, evidence-informed food safety reference for pregnancy.
  • A tool that gives you one clear verdict and a short reason.
  • Honest when the answer depends on details it doesn't have.
  • A way to reduce daily food anxiety — not amplify it.

What it isn't

  • A medical app or substitute for your doctor or midwife.
  • A diagnosis tool or personalised health advisor.
  • An exhaustive database covering every edge case.
  • A replacement for common sense or professional guidance.

What we stand for.

Honest over comfortable

If something genuinely depends on details Bumpi doesn't have, it says so. A confident wrong answer is worse than an honest "it depends".

Clear over comprehensive

Pregnancy is already overwhelming. Bumpi gives you one clear verdict and a short reason — not a wall of caveats to parse under stress.

Supportive, not alarmist

Most food anxiety during pregnancy is unnecessary. Bumpi aims to reduce that anxiety, not amplify it with blanket "avoid" verdicts.

Independent and ad-free

No investors pushing growth at any cost. No ads distorting what gets surfaced. Just a tool that works for the person using it.
