Safe means the food is generally considered fine during pregnancy. Avoid means there is a meaningful risk worth skipping. Limit means small amounts are usually okay but quantity matters. Depends means the answer changes based on details Bumpi needs more information to confirm — it will tell you what to look for.
Because some foods genuinely aren't a flat yes or no. Brie is safe if the milk is pasteurised, unsafe if not. Caffeine is about how much you've already had today. When the answer hinges on a detail Bumpi doesn't know, it tells you what to check rather than guessing. That's intentional — a confident wrong answer is worse than an honest "it depends".
Yes. Type the name of a dish, a cuisine, or a specific ingredient and Bumpi will evaluate it. The more detail you give, the more accurate the result.
Caffeine tracking is planned for an upcoming version. When you check a caffeinated food or drink, Bumpi already tells you where it sits relative to daily pregnancy limits.

No. Bumpi helps you make more informed everyday food decisions during pregnancy — it is not a medical diagnostic tool and does not replace advice from your doctor, midwife, or healthcare provider. Always consult a qualified professional for personal health guidance.
Bumpi applies evidence-informed pregnancy safety guidance — drawing on widely accepted sources including NHS, WHO, and ACOG guidelines. It identifies the food or ingredient, checks it against known safety data, and returns a verdict. When evidence is limited or conflicting, it says so.
Verdicts are based on general guidance and may not account for your specific situation, region, or trimester. If something doesn't seem right, trust your healthcare provider over Bumpi. You can also report a potentially incorrect result via the contact form — we review every report.
Force-close the app and reopen it. If the problem persists, note what you were doing when it happened and send us a bug report via the contact form. Include your device model and iOS version if possible.
Scan quality can be affected by poor lighting, a blurry image, or very small text. Try moving closer, improving the lighting, or just typing the food name instead. If a specific product consistently fails, let us know.
Bumpi is currently iOS only. Android is on the roadmap — join the waitlist and we'll let you know when it's available.
